In Blackjack, there is an option to minimize your risks to half the amount you are betting; this option is called insurance. Blackjack insurance is made available when the dealer’s open card is an Ace. If the dealer get Blackjack and you payed for the insurance, your losses will be cut to half of the amount you are betting. Insurance is considered to be a cost; the money you pay for insurance is kept by the house and the only advantage you can enjoy is when the dealer get a Blackjack.

Although Blackjack insurance is an opportunity to cut your losses, I personally advise you not to use them. The dealer rarely get Blackjack even if the open card is an Ace. Even if the dealer do get Blackjack, you will only lose money you are betting anyway. Paying for insurance will only add to your losses without noticeable benefits, so don’t opt for Blackjack insurance whenever offered and stick with your game plan.
